Luce - well, I told him no. I'm glad I did, though, because we actually saw some on our "hike" the other day and he was scared enough of them as it was. :)
I suppose being honest to your children is a good thing, especially when a lie could produce actual fear :) Believing that there were stick farms next to the freeway wasn't that scary :)
