We made it back last night after a long day (and night) of travel. Those inevitable travel hiccups (a lady in our row on the long flight getting sick, or ending up in the wrong parking lot at 11:00 p.m. to get our car) just seem worse when there are children involved! However, we are home and happy. I think both kids are back on CA time already--at least their naps have been CA time.
Speaking of home, our house situation isn't quite resolved: an unrelated-to-us issue came up with our loan, so it didn't fund. It looks like we might get it worked out without having to start the loan process all over, so I'm hopeful we'll have the deal closed by the end of this week. That would mean our projected move date of this weekend would still work. We'll see!
I'll post again soon about our trip.

I'm glad you're home safe and sound, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you with the loan problem! I'm beginning to think that a good experience moving does not and cannot exist. My new apartment just flooded the other night . . . for the second time in a week. After cajolling and yelling (again for the second time in a week), the building manager finally sent the maintenance guys to look at the roof. It turns out that the construction workers putting up the new building next door became overzealous with the concrete sprayer and got our roof as well . . . causing the roof to sink under the weight, the drainage pipe to be blocked off and no longer at the lowest point on the roof, and a pooling of stagnant water in the middle that descended upon us through the cracks in the ceiling. Luckily nothing was ruined. While the landlord is legally and financially responsible for any damage to our property, it would still be a pain to replace things.
I pray that your move is much smooth-er!
Has Nate seen his new home yet or are you going to wait until you're moving in to introduce him to it? Do you think he'll take to it quickly?
Hi Nell! Nate has seen the new place once, when I took him and Lucy with me to the home inspection. The current owners' stuff was still in there, though, and Nate had no idea it was going to be ours. I think he'll adjust to it OK, but we'll see--it might be hard for him since change isn't one of his favorite things!
