Milk update

On my friend Suzanne's recommendation, I bought some hemp milk to give to Levi. After a couple of weeks, he is used to the taste and likes it! I ordered my own shelled hemp seeds today so I can start making the milk myself (way more cost effective), although we may have to invest in a new blender for that. (My blender was passed down to me... I think it was a wedding gift to my parents!)

On another Levi note, I took him to an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor this week to have a spot on his neck looked at. (He was born with the spot--it's a raised white bump and not very noticeable, but it has gotten bigger.) The doctor said it's a benign cyst and should be removed for cosmetic reasons. I'm fine with getting it removed, but that does involve general anesthesia for 15 minutes or so. Anyone have experience or knowledge you want to share about anesthesia for one year olds?

well, i obviously do not have experience with giving anesthetizing one year olds.... but just thought it was interesting he has a cyst, i have a couple, too. maybe they're genetic.

so glad to hear that the hemp milk is good stuff. i'm considering not doing cow's milk with C and maybe tapering Maggie from it. wait, you can MAKE your own hemp milk?? bring it to UFO so I can see with my own eyes. it sounds very exotic, no?! :)

What are the health benefits of hemp milk? How does it taste? No experience with anesthetizing here either...

Ricci, hemp milk is high in Omega 3 (and also Omega 6 and 9) and also high in absorbable protein and iron. So, as a replacement for cow's milk, the calcium is lacking, but otherwise it's a great healthy drink.

It tastes a little nutty, and so far I've been adding some agave nectar to Levi's cup to sweeten it. I've been decreasing the amount of agave as he gets used to the taste.

Suz - Yes! I will let you know how my first attempt to make the milk goes. From what I've read, it just takes shelled hemp seeds (I ordered mine from Amazon subscribe and save for a great price), water, and a blender (plus any additional desired flavorings like agave nectar). :)
