My mom is coming to visit in a few weeks (yayyyyyyy!), and she has promised to help with a project. (Remember when she
wallpapered my bathroom?). I think I'll have her help me paint our bedroom (April Mist is the pick! I bought a sample can and love it), and in preparation for that I've been doing some projects that will complete the room. I sent off my quilt to be quilted. I'm redoing a lampshade. And when I came across
this on Etsy, I thought I could recreate it myself.
Here's the inspiration:

The Etsy listing is for just an 8x10 without a frame, but I wanted to go bigger. I found a 16x20 frame for $7 at Goodwill and spray-painted it black. The burlap is from Joann's for about $1. I got the buttons on Etsy for about $8. So, for less than the cost of the Etsy version, I made my own just how I wanted it. I'm so happy with how it turned out!

What a good idea for a design! You and these folks have a terific imagination. L&K N
love it! I love when I see stuff that is so easy to do yourself exactly the way you want and usually cheaper! I can't wait to see the finished room--you've got to be so excited! (although I don't know if any room in my house is ever "done"... (grin!))
SO SO SO cool! Did you stencil on the letter first before you glued the buttons down?
Casey - Yes. I printed off a V in a font I liked--it ended up on about 4 sheets of paper. I used the V itself (not a stencil) as a guide and drew my V a bit wider onto the burlap.
Love the V with the white buttons. April Mist, you will love it, 2 years of living with it here and I never tire of it's soothing refreshing feel!
