I have never made clothes before. I'm really not that good of a seamstress, and I always need LOTS of instruction and clear directions on how to make something. That's why I'm proud of how this dress turned out. It's OK for a first try, and now I know what to tweak to make the next dress turn out much better! (And I will add trim or contrasting fabric or something to the next one; this was just a plain-as-possible first attempt.)
I found instructions
here. The creator included lots of pictures and a detailed step-by-step guide, which is why I love it.

Great Job! It looks so cute. I love the pattern, very sweet. Lots of fun combos can be done to it and put a cute little long sleeve shirt and jeans under it in the winter and you're good to go there too, very sweet! Go You!
that is an impressive first try! wow it looks great:). have a great week!:)
that looks great!!!
Ricci - I was thinking the same thing! I also left some extra room in the straps on the inside so I could lengthen them later if I wanted (which is good, since the bodice turned out to be too big anyway).
Very Cute!
Katie--it's so cute--I saw a tutorial on this same type of dress on a different site, and it looked way too complicated! This actually looks doable! I may have to poke around and see if I have a shirt I can use...
Great job for your first try!!
Thank you, Sara! I should add that I got the shirt from Goodwill for $2 (in addition to 4 more for $2-4 each).
