What will they come up with next?

Here are a couple of new baby inventions I'm eyeing for this next time around.
  • Zip-top crib sheets. It is a big pain trying to get a crib sheet off and a new one on, especially in the middle of the night. (I often have to remove the entire crib bumper and take out the mattress and put it on the floor.) These sheets are two pieces: a base (which doesn't usually get dirty), and a top that zip together. When the sheet needs to be changed, just zip off the top and zip on a new top.
  • A swaddling blanket. If Baby likes to be swaddled as much as Nate did, I will want one of these. (Lucy, on the other hand, hated swaddling.) The blankets made specifically for swaddling seem nice because they are big and have pockets so baby can't kick them off or wriggle his/her arms out. If you go to the site, scroll down and watch the video of the precious baby getting swaddled. (Oh--I'm also thinking of just making some of these. The picture here pretty much gives away how I could make one version.)

You'll notice that the things I like take up little to no space... I don't want to buy any new toys, big play mats, etc.--no space suckers!

I love the zip off sheet idea, very nice! I never had trouble with swaddling, a big blanket was perfect for my kiddos. If you decide on Levi there might be 2 of them, that's the name we've chosen too(if it's a boy), I guess we can both use it, we live in different states for goodness sake! Great minds think alike, it took Joe 2 times around before he was willing to go for it (actually I told him if this one's a boy he didn't have a choice!) I love Isaac, and Isaiah too, Andrew is very nice, goes well with Nate for whatever reason.

Ric - I don't think you need to worry about duplicate Levis... Jon said a solid no to that one when I mentioned it. ;) I just like it. I knew it was your choice a long time back! :)

Katie--I did multiple layers of sheets in the crib/cradle--waterproof pad, sheet, waterproof pad, sheet, etc. That way I would just have to take off the top sheet and pad, and then the next one was waiting! (It wasn't my idea, I heard it somewhere! (grin)

Both of my kids hated swaddling, but I've seen that blanket and it's so cool, and yes, it would be so easy to make!!!

Sara, I do that too (multiple layers of sheets). It just always seems the middle-of-the-night crib change happens when I'm on the last layer! :)

both of those look like great products that would work well. You'll have to let me know:):).

I too love the zip off sheet idea!! Why didn't I think of that? ;) haha. Both my kids loved to be swaddled, but I just used the blankets I had on hand which were usually big enough.

I know I'm posting late ... that whole "motherhood" thing takes up a lot of time :)
I have the "miracle blanket" as well as two other swaddling blankets and I didn't enjoy the MB very much. I prefer one by Kiddopotomus called Swaddleme http://www.kiddopotamus.com/p_swad.php

FYI, they have 3 sizes and they run a little big.

Thanks for the info, Terra! I have heard of the Swaddleme too. Maybe I'll get that one instead! :)
